Kansas City Royals: Battling in American League Central race
Despite a recent 10-8 run, and thanks to Detroit proving that they are human with a 1-6 stretch, Kansas City is still in the hunt for first overall in the AL Central. The Royals play their second series versus Houston this season and are hoping for a similar result as they swept the Astros by a 15-7 combined score back in mid April. Hot and cold bats have been a problem for KC as they have scored 53 runs in their ten wins and 18 runs in their eight loses.
Houston Astros: Struggling to put together extended winning streaks
Though playing better recently, with a 7-5 record, the hole Houston has built for themselves is going to be tough to overcome. Facts are facts and this is still a relatively bad baseball team. The ‘Stros are striking out an average of 8.7 times per game, their team batting average is a pitiful .232 and their team ERA at 4.43 is one of the worst in the Majors this season. Houston must be getting a little homesick as this is their eighth road game in eight nights.
