Carolina Hurricanes vs Edmonton Oilers NHL Betting Lines and Goal Total Call

Carolina Hurricanes vs Edmonton Oilers NHL Betting Lines and Goal Total Call
Fire on ice action from the National Hockey League is our focus as we preview and predict the Carolina Hurricanes vs Edmonton Oilers contest tonight. Both squads need to pick up the pace as Carolina is six points out of a Wild Card spot while Edmonton is four points out of a Pacific Division postseason position. We get two evenly matched teams in this NHL Metropolitan vs Pacific Division duel and puck drop is slated for 9:00 PM ET on January 4, 2016, at Rexall Place in Edmonton, Alberta. We expect a fair amount of scoring in this match tonight.

Edmonton Oilers: Look to build on year opening victory

Following a dismal start, Edmonton was 8-15-2 through the first two months of the season, the Oilers caught fire for a stretch as they won six straight games to open December. Those victories were impressive as they came against some of the better teams in the league – including a pair of 3-2 extra time wins over Boston and a 2-1 overtime victory against the NHL leading Dallas Stars. Getting outscored by a 27-11 margin, the winning run was cut short as the Oilers went 1-1-6 to close out 2015. Five or more goals have been scored in nine of the Oilers last thirteen games.

Carolina Hurricanes: Had a December to remember after a rough season start

Carolina struggled through a rough start to the 2015-16 NHL season as the ‘Canes sat third last in the Eastern Conference standings with a 8-12-4 record at the end of November. The Hurricanes heated up in December as they didn’t lose two games in row (in regulation time) at any time while posting a 8-5-1 record last month. The winning run has moved Carolina to within six points of the final Wild Card spot currently held by the Boston Bruins. In a bit of a scoring drought, the ‘Canes lost 2-1 (OT) at home to Nashville to open the New Year in their last match on Saturday.

Edmonton vs Carolina Call: Cam Talbot (6-11-2 GAA 2.91) starts in goal for Edmonton tonight. Talbot snapped a personal four-game losing streak, stopping 31 of 34 shots he faced, as the Oilers opened the New Year with 4-3 (SO) win at home vs the Arizona Coyotes on Saturday. Carolina’s workhorse is back in net as Cam Ward (11-11-3 2.52) gets the call for the Hurricanes. Ward’s last start was a 3-2 loss to the Devils in New Jersey on December 29. These teams have potted five or more goals in seven of the past eight meetings – including the Hurricanes 4-1 win at home back on November 25. Feeling this game gets to a 2-2 score we are backing the OVER 4.5 goals with a ten unit wager on the alternate goal total price on the Sportsinteraction NHL betting board.
