Atlanta Braves play host to the new-look Miami Marlins tonight at 7:10 ET and will be looking for their eighth straight win. Atlanta is only 2.5 games out of first place in the NL East behind the Washington Nationals and hold one of the two spots in the Wild Card race. The Marlins are coming off a flurry of trades that decimated the club after an off-season of spending that fans thought would put the team in contention for years to come.
Upstart Ben Sheets Makes Fourth Start for Braves
After missing the entire 2011 season, former Milwaukee Brewers ace Ben Sheets makes his fourth start since joining the Braves rotation earlier in the month of July. Sheets is 3-0 with a 0.50 ERA since taking the hill for Atlanta. He has allowed just one run in 18 innings pitched this year. For his career, Sheets is 3-4 with a 3.08 ERA and 68 strikeouts in 61.1 innings pitched against the Marlins.
Wade LeBlanc Takes the Mound for the Marlins
Miami recently demoted off-season acquisition Carlos Zambrano to the bullpen after he struggled as a starter. LeBlanc takes his spot in the rotation. LeBlanc has made 11 relief appearances for the Marlins this season and started 14 games for the San Diego Padres in 2011. In his 11 relief appearances this year LeBlanc is 1-1 with a 1.15 ERA. In his career against Atlanta LeBlanc is 0-2 with a 4.15 ERA in 8.2 innings pitched.
Atlanta vs Miami Canada Sports Betting Game Day Prediction
Braves over the Marlins seems to be a popular pick for Wednesday’s slate of MLB games. The Braves are red-hot right now, winners of their past seven, and they send a resurgent Ben Sheets to the hill against Wade LeBlanc and the Marlins. The Marlins have struggled this year and are 14.5 games out of first in the National League East. Even though LeBlanc is a lefty, expect Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez to have his left-handed power hitters Freddie Freeman and Jason Heyward in the lineup as the team goes for its eighth straight.
